Monroe Firefighters EMS Service Information

In 1999 your Monroe Firefighters approached the City Leaders with a business plan to improve quality of EMS service that included higher levels of care and faster transport times. These additions were completed in September of 2000 without the addition of any personnel, and minimal increase in supplies and equipment.

We provide a minimum of 2 paramedics on each ambulance who are cross trained as firefighters. This dual role allows us to maintain teams that provides special and technical rescue needs for the City such as Hazardous Materials, Confined Space Rescue, Water Rescue, and responses to any event or disaster that may occur. Providing cross trained Firefighter - Paramedics which allows us to meet the needs of our patients, from entrapment in a vehicle to the unconscious diabetic patient. Recognition that a call for help needs a quick and efficient response, we offer a safe and yet fast average response time of 3 - 4 minutes anywhere in the city. Our currently response level is 2 advanced life support ambulances. To maintain our level of care all our fire engines also carry advanced life support equipment.

We have recently upgraded with 12 lead EKG capabilities on our transporting ambulances to assist us in getting heart patients the extra time needed for treatment by the physicians. Time is critical in Heart Attacks, and Strokes. Monroe Fire Department has a 98% patient satifaction rating from our residents. If you have any questoins about your fire department please stop by and ask us.
